Shut yall crying asses up lol. This is the most humane and sustainable way to get your own fish. 90% of the people feeling sorry for the eel don't think twice about buying fish or any other meat from the store. Just so you know, the meat you eat was all alive at one point.

I know it’s probably for food but going after the biggest eels will leave no more big eels that can carry their genes on to future generations so I would recommend going for medium sized ones instead

Slimy, gotta let is sit for a day in the fridge to get the mucus out, lut in zip bag
Even though they aint true eels, still good eating, real fatty
Can catch them with a broom handle and hook low tide on a jetty
Squid bait is best
